A custom special order watch for a customer

This order was a special order for a customer that contacted me looking for a unique watch.

We spent a week or so designing the dial between us back and forth through email and messenger. Once the design was finalised the design file for the dial went off for manufacture.

The factory did an excellent job and their communication was brilliant, the whole process took about 6 weeks all told.

Once the dial was delivered the build process could begin.

The final specs are:

Lorenz case

Custom dial

ETA 2824-2 movement

Leather strap

Handmade leather travel pouch

Testimonial from Facebook

A couple of months ago I messaged with the intention of discussing a customised watch. I though that the best I could hope for would be to help choose some of the components. I had a clear idea of what I wanted – a unique dial in a classic diver case with vintage style cues. I also wanted it to reflect my faith somehow. After much discussion and advice, Dan arranged to have my own custom dial printed with my own colour scheme, layout and logo.

What resulted is what you see before you – The Kairos. It’s built from a NOS Lorenz case, a brand new ETA 2824-2 movement, hand regulated and finished. I can honestly say it’s the most stunning watch I have ever seen.

The logo “SDG” stands for Soli Deo Gloria which is Latin for “The Glory of God Alone”. The text above the 6 o’clock position is a quote from a bible verse (Ephesians 5:16).

All through the process Dan has been the perfect guide. He advised me on what he though should be done, agreed with me when I had a strong desire for a particular thing and told me honestly when I wanted something that would either look stupid or not go with the rest of the watch. I can’t recommend him enough.
