Rebel Time from Brooklyn, New York are bringing out new models soon, a diver with an automatic swiss movement, and I am pleased to be able to talk about it now.
I spoke to one of the founders of Rebel Time, Shneur Lakein, to put the story into perspective.
“My great grandfather was a watchmaker in Ukraine in the early 1900’s and he immigrated in 1913 and started Lakein’s jewellers. Our family has been in the jewelry business for over 100 years and we wanted to bring watchmaking back into family. We like the idea of bold designs and that translates into our style of watches.
We launched our first watches on Kickstarter in June and shipped in Nov”.
“The first models were a a classic chronograph in black or cream, and an Aviator Chronograph in black or silver, modern interpretation of the classic military field watch, and an Aviator Chronographs. Up to date fonts and finishes contrast with classic details to create a perfect mix of military style and fashion”.

So I’ve had the watch for about 3 weeks now and it’s really grown on me. It’s my everyday wear. The band has softened to a really nice feel. Super pleased!! (KS)
My watch came!! Looks great!!! Thanks!! (indegogo)
Collectors and enthusiasts themselves, Shneur and Reuven grew frustrated at the industry’s skyrocketing prices, and decided to take matters into their own hands by designing beautiful timepieces that bring value without the hefty price tag.
Starting from the ground up with hand drawn sketches and input from Swiss watch consultants, they were guided by classic design principles and an unwavering commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Fifteen months of hard work later they launched.
So what is next?
“We are currently working on our new model which is a modern diver powered by a swiss automatic movement. we are debating between the Eta 2824 or Sellita sw200. It will have 30atm depth rating, domed sapphire crystal, superluminova and vulconized rubber strap”.
So subscribe to the mailing list, and check out their sites, and if I get a sneak peek at the designs, I will run another piece.
with a LookBook coming soon.
