Reasons to service a watch – I decided to replace a movement in a watch for sale, had picked up a vintage pierce AS1700 (gold version) that I thought had great potential
Before the service , after a bit of adjustment the best I could get was +11 seconds / low amplitude (208) / beat error 1.1ms / erratic spread indicating dirt also
After the service the swing is so much cleaner (spread of the dots), great amplitude, accurate timing, very acceptable beat error for a 50 year old movement
All these help well in 4 different positions with a time gain within 10 seconds
