I spotted the Thunderbird II twice in 24 hours, once on Kickstarter, and then again on Instagram, so I approached Mikael to see if I could blog about it, here is what he said.

Mikael BOURGEOIS, unveils its new automatic chronograph. This limited edition will be held on Kickstarer.
The base movement is Swiss origin (Valjoux 7750), after few modifications, settings and decoration “in-house” the accuracy and self winding is strongly improved.
The case is 100% manufactured in France, with best materials and treatments.
This campaign is the debut of many projects, and the brand have choice the crowdfunding to increase his notoriety before introduce the rest of the collection and his own movement Made in France.

The workshop Mikael BOURGEOIS, based in Morteau (FRANCE), is in the heart of our watchmaking valleys.
Designer and watch’s creator for over 17 years for major brands (Parmigiani, Hermes, Audemars Piguet, Jaquet Droz, Romain Jérome, Hublot , Chanel, Girard Perregaux, …) Mikael launched its brands few years ago and gradually started the manufacture of small series and high-end watches.
Thunderbird reference the brand is now launching a unique and truly outstanding automatic chronograph. Handcrafted in France this all new timepiece has the technologically advanced In-house movement and avant-garde design of a modern icon.
All of the Thunderbird II automatic chronographs are produced in France. The mechanical movement is “Swiss made” based on a Valjoux 7750 which is decorated, modified and cased in the workshop. This offers collectors a superior accuracy and better automatic winding system. Once the movement is hand assembled and passes a stringent test it will then qualify for the Mikael Bourgeois standard of excellence and hermetically sealed in the case of the Thunderbird II.
